Hekate
Hekate (or Hecate) is the Greek Goddess of magic, necromancy, and witchcraft. Being the guardian of doorways to other dimensions and crossroads, images of Hekate illustrate the Her with three faces or bodies. Sometimes her face ages among the three figures, signifying the three separate female phases of life: maiden, mother, and crone.
In the abduction of Persephone, Hekate had heard her cries before she descended into the Underworld. She helped Demeter reunite with her daughter, and would later become Persephone’s companion in the Underworld when she returned to Hades each year. She would lead her to and from the depths below the earth with a torch in hand.
Queen of the night, lover of dogs, and protector of realms, Hekate is a powerful figure for witches and wiccans alike. She is said to ward off evil spirits and is highly associated with the phases of the moon, ghosts, and death. On all Hallow's Eve, it is said that Hekate will appear to you if you leave offerings at a crossroad in the middle of the night.
Because these candles drip so easily, it's the perfect time to practice some candle divination, also known as Carromancy. Simply state your question or intention, light the wick, sit back, and watch how the candle burns. Do you see figures in the wax? Do the flames flicker, grow tall, pop or hiss? Is there a certain direction in the way the wax is melting? These ritual candles may hold more secrets than you know.
ɪᴛᴇᴍ ᴅᴇsᴄʀɪᴘᴛɪᴏɴ: Two 6 inch taper candles rolled in locally sourced herbs. These taper candles have been ritually rolled in herbs associated with Hekate such as chamomile, red roses, garden sage, and cedar.
𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓: These candles melt beautifully and are safe to burn indoors, however, PLEASE be wary of the flame. The more herbs, the bigger and taller the flame will be. Always supervise your candles while burning. These candles have very burnable botanicals. Some herbs may crackle when caught on fire, such as cedar and juniper.
Always burn in a reliable candle holder or in a fireproof dish. Please watch the video attached to this listing to see how they burn.
